Over three days in November 2023, Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center New Orleans School of Nursing community members will gather for the school’s 90th anniversary celebrations: “Honorable Traditions. Innovative Horizons.”
“Since 1933, our school has produced nurses who are excellent at nursing practice,” says Dean Demetrius J. Porche, DNS, PhD, PCC, ANEF, FACHE, FAANP, FAAN. “This is an opportunity for nurses of all different levels, programs and specialties to come together and celebrate all of our school’s accomplishments.”
Events will kick off Friday, November 17, with a School of Nursing open house and wine and cheese tour at 1900 Gravier Street, New Orleans, from 6 to 7:30 p.m., sponsored by the Nursing Alumni Association.
On Saturday, November 18, the school’s 90th Anniversary Gala Celebration will include a Sponsors Patron Party from 6 to 7 p.m., followed by the Gala itself from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Marriott New Orleans Warehouse Arts District Hotel, 859 Convention Center Boulevard, New Orleans.
Gala attendees will enjoy music by NOLA Duke, and the school will recognize outstanding nursing alumni and unveil portraits of the newest members of the School of Nursing Hall of Fame.

On Sunday, November 19, Hall of Fame honorees will be recognized at a brunch from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Marriott New Orleans Warehouse Arts District Hotel.
Individual brunch tickets are $60 and student brunch tickets are $30. Combined individual Gala and brunch tickets are available for $165, and combined student Gala and brunch tickets are available for $60.
